Budel is a village in the municipality of Cranendonck in the Dutch province of Noord-Brabant , about 25 kilometers south of Eindhoven . Budel borders the Belgian- Limburg community of Hamont-Achel and the Dutch- Limburg community of Weert . Budel is conveniently located on the Dutch A2 motorway . Kempen Airport is located near Budel . The municipality of Budel was independent until December 31, 1996 and was then combined with the municipality of Maarheeze to form the municipality of Cranendonck on January 1, 1997 .
One of the largest VW Beetle meetings in Europe takes place in Budel every June with around 3,500 vehicles and 15,000 spectators .
economy
- The Budel'sche Zinkfabrik from 1892 is located in Budel-Dorplein and is a subsidiary of the fine zinc manufacturer Nyrstar .
- The Budelse Brouwerij brewery from 1870 is one of the few remaining family breweries in the Netherlands in the hands of the Arts family.
- The Nassau Dietz barracks in the Budelberg Mountains . Built in 1956, the barracks were used by the German Bundeswehr from 1963 to 2005 and by the Dutch military until February 28, 2014.
- With Kempen Airport and Airpark Brabant , the municipality of Cranendonck maintains a small local airport with an attached flight school and a restaurant.
