reception

The German magazine AnimaniA praises the OVA for “successful character designs” and a good summary of the manga plot in just four episodes. The anime is entertaining, but also graphically appealing with an appropriate amount of action. In terms of content, the OVA meets the tastes of the 1990s with nostalgic elements and an archaeological-esoteric adventure. The German synchronization was also successful. Anime no Tomodachi describes the 1992 OVA as the most beautiful drawing of the Babel II series, but the 1973 series offers a more original plot.
