The Bach-Rad-Erlebnis-Route is a cycle route in Thuringia . The cycle path connects and opens up important stations in the life of the musician Johann Sebastian Bach and his family in the Gotha and Ilm districts . The route also links the Gera cycle path and the Thuringian chain of cities long-distance hiking trails .

The route runs in the southern part of the Thuringian Basin and is designed as a 54-kilometer circuit, which can be extended to a total of 60 kilometers with a detour from Arnstadt to Dornheim.

The round tour starts and ends at the Arnstadt market, where you come across the monument to the young Bach in front of the ox-blood-red town hall with a golden sundial. The following stages are: Espenfeld , Gossel , Crawinkel , Luisenthal , Ohrdruf , Schwabhausen , Günthersleben , Wechmar , Mühlberg , Haarhausen , Holzhausen and back to Arnstadt or the detour to Dornheim .
