The Badmühle (popularly also called "Grießinger-Mühle") is a former grain mill on Altenkunstadter Mühlbach, a tributary of the Weismain , in Altenkunstadt . As a monument it is protected by the Bavarian State Office for the Preservation of Monuments under the monument number D-4-78-111-12 .
history
The mill was first mentioned in the oldest Langheimer Urbar from 1390 as "muel bey the bathhouses." Later it was also called "Badstubenmühle" and "Grießingersche Badmühle". In 1801 the property was described by the Bamberg mathematics professor and topographer Johann Baptist Roppel as a grinding and tampering mill with three undershot water wheels and ancillary buildings. Due to the secularization in Bavaria , the mill was transferred from Langheim property to private ownership in 1803.
Around 1900 the mill only had an undershot Zuppinger wheel , which was replaced by a more powerful Francis turbine in 1934 . The turbine with a lying shaft, built by Voith , has a capacity of around 820 liters per second and an output of around 12 kW . The mill was in operation until the 1970s. Because of the great competition from modern industrial mills, operations could no longer be maintained. In 1975 the mill was extensively rebuilt. The grinding room and all the mill technology were also expanded to create living space. Since then, the turbine has been used for private electricity generation. In 1997 a device for feeding into the grid was created.
In May 2006 the mill was extensively renovated. On the night of July 2, 2008, some barns behind the mill burned down due to arson. The rapid intervention of the fire brigade prevented the mill building from catching fire.
architecture
The current mill building was built as a half-hipped roof half-timbered house in 1709 on an older, massive ground floor. The framework is designed as a decorative framework with St. Andrew's crosses . The year 1709 is embedded in the beams on the upper floor. The bulk floor at the south-western end of the roof was added in the middle of the 20th century.
