Bahman Mohasses

Bahman Mohasses (born February 1932 in Rasht , Iran ; † July 28, 2010 in Rome ) was an Iranian painter, sculptor and translator .

Life

At the age of 14 he began his training in the workshop and studio of Mahammad Habib Mohammadi, who in turn studied at the Moscow Academy of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture . He continued his education at the University of Tehran and from 1955 at the Academy of Arts in Rome.

In 1963 he returned to Iran and brought the play The Chairs by Eugène Ionesco to the stage. From 1967 he lived again in Rome until his death. In addition to his work as an artist, he has translated works by Italo Calvino , Curzio Malaparte , Luigi Pirandello , Eugène Ionesco and Jean Genet .

Bahman Mohasses was considered an introverted man who led a life in seclusion. He died of cor pulmonale heart disease .

Exhibitions

Bahmann Mohasses took part in several solo and group exhibitions in Rome, Milan , Florence , Cannes , Paris , Beirut , Geneva and Tehran , as well as in biennials in Rome, Paris and São Paulo . Some of his works can also be seen in the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art and the Jahan-Nama Museum of the Niavaran Palace .
