Berga-Kelbra station is the name of a wedge station in the municipality of Berga and the town of Kelbra in the district of Mansfeld-Südharz .
history
The station is located in the Berga municipality. It is on the Halle – Hann railway line. Münden , which was opened by the Magdeburg-Leipzig Railway Company in 1866. However, the station was not established until 1877.
Since 1890 it has been the starting point for the branch line to Rottleberode , extended in 1923 to Stolberg , since 2011 without passenger traffic, and from 1916 to 1966 also for the Kyffhäuser Kleinbahn via Kelbra, Sittendorf , Tilleda and Hackpfüffel to Artern .
On February 21, 1945 a fully occupied express train was attacked by American fighter bombers on the route between Berga-Kelbra and Aumühle . After detonating the locomotive's steam boiler, they directed their sheaves of bullets into the cars. 40 people died instantly.
It is planned to renew the platforms and build new access routes by 2021. The investment volume is around 1,250,000 euros.

The state bus 450 of the Südharz transport company runs every two hours from the station forecourt to Stolberg (Harz) via Rottleberode . The line was set up after the cancellation of the trains on the Berga-Kelbra – Stolberg (Harz) line.
