Railway stations in Thuringia |
The station Leinefelde is an important railway junction and main railway station of the Eichsfeld . It is located in the Leinefelde district of the Thuringian city of Leinefelde-Worbis in the Eichsfeld district . It is where the Halle – Kassel and Gotha – Leinefelde railway lines cross, as well as the Leinefelde – Wulften and Leinefelde – Treysa lines, which have now been closed . The latter route was part of the Berlin - Metz cannon railway .
history
Already with the construction of the large Rheinstrasse Cologne – Berlin, today's Bundesstrasse 80 , in 1826 and the Reichsstrasse from Mühlhausen to Duderstadt , today's Bundesstrasse 247 , in 1834 Leinefeld began to develop into a road traffic junction.
With the construction of the Halle – Nordhausen – Leinefelde – Eichenberg – Kassel / Göttingen railway in 1867, Leinefelde was also connected by rail. The Nordhausen - Eichenberg section was officially opened on July 9, 1867 . As the place a few years later with the Gotha-Leinefelde railway still received a second railway main railway line, the station was finally railway transportation hub as well as the " Central Station of Eichsfeld called".
The cannon line Berlin - Metz , which also ran through Leinefelde, was completed in 1880 with a rail connection from Leinefelde to Eschwege in Hesse .
From 1897 Leinefelde was also the starting point for the Leinefelde – Wulften railway , which connected Leinefelde, Breitenbach , Worbis and Wintzingerode to the southern Harz line via Duderstadt . Interrupted from 1945 by the inner-German border between Teistungen and Duderstadt, the line was gradually shut down until 2001 and finally dismantled by 2005.
The Kanonenbahn was interrupted by the Inner German border between Schwebda ( Hesse ) and Geismar ( Thuringia ), which greatly reduced the importance of the Hessian section of the line. Passenger traffic was gradually discontinued until 1994, and this section of the route was closed a little later.
The Halle – Hann. Münden was expanded to two tracks and electrified until 1994 as the German Unity No. 6 traffic project . In 1994, an electronic signal box was set up in Leinefelde station as the first in Thuringia, which has since also served the sections Eichenberg (exclusively) - Bernterode (exclusively), since April 10, 2000 Leinefelde - Gotha (east) (exclusively) and since July 10, 2010 controls the route from Bad Langensalza to Kühnhausen (exclusively).
The travel center closed in February 2019 and was replaced by a video travel center .
