Schwebda was a railway junction on the Kanonenbahn in the Leinefelde – Treysa section . The routes to Heiligenstadt and Wartha (Werra Valley Railway) branched from this until 1945 . After 1945, due to the inner-German border, only the Eschwege-Schwebda line and the section of the Werra Valley Railway to Wanfried - Heldra remained in operation, which were gradually shut down until 1994 and later dismantled. The reception building of the Schwebda train station was retained.
tourism
Schwebda has a connection to the Werratal cycle path . There is a lido on the east bank of the Werratalsee.
