Hitzelrode is a district of the Meinhard municipality in the Werra-Meißner district in northern Hesse .

Geographical location

Hitzelrode is 4 km north of Grebendorf , Meinhard's parish seat. It is located between the mountains of the Gobert , in which the "Hessian Switzerland near Meinhard" extends, and is located on the upper reaches of the right-hand Werra tributary Mühlbach (also called Motzbach). In the village the state roads  3403, which leads via Motzenrode and Jestädt to the federal road 249 , and 3424, which runs there via Neuerode and Grebendorf.

history

On April 1, 1972, the previously independent community of Hitzelrode was incorporated into the community of Meinhard.

religion

The Protestant parish Hitzelrode belongs to the parish Jestädt. The church was built in 1855. However, the tower dates from before the Reformation .

The mayor is Erwin Roth ( SPD ).
