Neuerode is a district of the Meinhard community in the Werra-Meißner district in northern Hesse . It is the second highest village in the municipality.

Geographical location

Neuerode is located in the southern foothills of the Gobert ridge on the southwest slope of the Meinhard mountain ( 491.3  m above sea  level ). State road  3424, which connects Hitzelrode in the north with Grebendorf in the south, runs through the village .

history

Neuerode was first mentioned in 980. The place belonged to the Jestädt court of the Lords of Boyneburg- Hohenstein as early as 1413 . In 1654 he came to the landgrave's office in Bischhausen . Since 1821 the place belonged to the Eschwege district .

On April 1, 1972, the previously independent municipality of Neuerode was incorporated into the municipality of Meinhard as part of the regional reform in Hesse .
