Jordy Ray Nelson (* 31 May 1985 in Manhattan , Kansas ) is a former American American football poker players on the position of wide receiver . He last played with the Oakland Raiders in the National Football League (NFL). With the Green Bay Packers , he won the Super Bowl XLV in 2011 .

Nelson played college football for Kansas State University and was selected by the Green Bay Packers in the 2008 second round of the NFL Draft .

family

Jordy Nelson was born in Manhattan, Kansas, the son of farmers Alan and Kim Nelson. His parents owned season tickets for the Kansas State University football team.

High school

Nelson was a student at Riley County High School in Riley, Kansas and played for the high school football team , the Falcons. In his senior year, Nelson was his school's quarterback, gaining 1,029 yards and eight touchdowns .

college

Jordy Nelson then moved to Kansas State University and played there for the Wildcats. Initially he played defensive back , but his coach decided to use Nelson as his wide receiver. In his sophomore year of college, he got 65 trapped passes and eight touchdowns. In his senior year Nelson was able to recommend himself as one of the best receivers, he scored 122 trapped passes, 1,606 yards and 11 touchdowns.

NFL

Green Bay Packers

In the 2008 NFL Draft , Nelson was signed in the second round as the 36th player by the Green Bay Packers. Nelson scored two touchdowns in his first season. In his sophomore year Nelson get two touchdowns again; this year he was mostly used as a kick returner . Also in the 2010 season Nelson was able to distinguish himself with two touchdowns. At the end of the season, he and the Packers won the Super Bowl against the Pittsburgh Steelers ( Super Bowl XLV ), Nelson scored the first touchdown of the game and caught nine passes for 140 yards. In 2011, Nelson set a new personal record when he scored 15 touchdowns. Another seven touchdowns followed the following year. After Nelson had to end the 2015 season due to a cruciate ligament injury in the second week, he made his comeback in the 2016 season , he achieved 97 passes, 14 touchdowns and 1257 yards. The 14 touchdowns caught were most of the league. Because of this achievement, he was awarded the NFL Comeback Player of the Year Award .

Oakland Raiders

On March 15, 2018, Nelson signed a two-year deal for $ 14.2 million with the Oakland Raiders. On March 14, 2019, he was released from the raiders.

Nelson announced his retirement on March 27, 2019. In order to be able to resign as a Packers player, he signed a one-day contract there on August 4, 2019.

Personal

Jordy Nelson has been married to his wife Emily since 2007 and the couple has had a son since February 3, 2010. Nelson is a devout Christian .
