The Berlin-Heiligensee station is a station of the Berlin S-Bahn in the Berlin district of Heiligensee in the Reinickendorf district . The station on the Kremmener Bahn is the last station in the direction of travel out of town in Berlin.
history
Heiligensee station was opened for freight traffic on August 1, 1893. It was released for passenger traffic on May 1, 1897. The central platform was rebuilt in two stages in 1925/26 and also raised. Access is at the northeast end. A wooden gable roof spanning the platform was erected. Electric suburban traffic began on March 16, 1927.
Even before the Second World War , the S-Bahn was running every 20 minutes. Due to war damage, operations were suspended from April to September 1945.
With the construction of the wall on August 13, 1961, the traffic leading to the surrounding area was interrupted and Heiligensee to the terminus in West Berlin . After the handover of the S-Bahn traffic from the Reichsbahn to the Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe on January 9, 1984, the Kremmener Bahn in Berlin was shut down.
Only after a fundamental renovation of the Berlin-Schönholz - Hennigsdorf line (the embankment had been partially removed for the construction of the A 111 ) was the station with the reopened section between Tegel and Hennigsdorf reopened on December 15, 1998. Since then it has been served by the S25 S-Bahn line.
The state of Berlin has ordered the creation of a southern access from Deutsche Bahn, for this purpose the existing pedestrian tunnel is to be renewed and extended accordingly. The implementation is planned as part of the complete renovation of the railway line from 2017.
Connection
The S-Bahn station is currently served by the S25 line of the Berlin S-Bahn. There is a possibility to change to the bus service of the Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe .
