The Besançon Franche-Comté TGV ( French Gare de Besançon Franche-Comté TGV ) station in the north of the agglomeration of Besançon is one of two new stations on the LGV Rhin-Rhône high-speed line . It went into operation on December 11, 2011 at the same time as the new line and is to be used by 1.1 million passengers annually. The station building was awarded the label for ecological building , as 75 percent of the energy required comes from renewable sources. The construction costs were estimated at 32 million euros.

Infrastructure

Besançon Franche-Comté TGV station has a total of six tracks, including two through tracks for non-stopping TGV trains. There are two tracks for stopping TGV trains and two butt tracks for regional trains that shuttle between the new station and the Besançon-Viotte station , as well as a connection between the LGV tracks and the connection with the Gare de Besançon-Viotte. The railway line connecting the Besançon Franche-Comté TGV station and the Besançon-Viotte station has been expanded for this new use (construction of an overhead line and renovation of the structures).
