The Bordesholm Station is a passenger station in the center of Bordesholm ( Rendsburg-Eckernförde ) at the Hamburg-Altona-Kiel railway . Today (2017) the station is mainly used by commuters.
history
Founding and 19th century
The station was opened in September 1844 together with the railway line. The station located in the Eidersted municipality was first called "Bordesholm" and was later renamed "Bordesholm-Bahnhof" . In the early days, two passenger trains and one freight train ran in both directions every day. The actual travel time between Kiel and Bordesholm was 27 minutes, between Bordesholm and Neumünster 17 minutes. When the railway went into operation, there was no station building here. However - as stated in the annual report for 1844 - the approval of the submitted building plans was expected. The first station building, a small single-storey brick building, stood roughly where the companionway to the pedestrian tunnel is now. In addition to passenger traffic, it served the handling of goods in the rapidly developing trade and industry as well as for the transport of cattle .
In 1895 the Bordesholm - Neumünster section was expanded to double tracks. This eliminated the forced stops of the passenger trains in Bordesholm. As early as 1899, plans were discussed to turn the station back into a stop .
In the 20th century
The core of the current building was erected shortly before the First World War . Up until the 1920s there was a siding to the gravel pit between Reesdorf and Techelsdorf. Later there was a Lorenbahn to Kiesverladeanlage north of the station. In 1936 the existing Jüdel- type signal box was replaced by a mechanical signal box in the front structure on the track side. The security systems in Einfeld, Bordesholm, Techelsdorf and Flintbek were also modified in the mid-1930s. During the Second World War there was a prisoner-of-war camp of the Deutsche Reichsbahn at the station . In 1942, in view of the tense staffing levels at the station, the mayor demanded that the people detained there also be used to handle goods .
In the 1960s, the station was equipped with a new head ramp, which was also used by the military for loading vehicles. A Köf II small locomotive was stationed to operate the station. In 1964, the renovation and extension with a counter and waiting room as well as a train station restaurant was put into operation. From 1986, the track systems were dismantled and the island platform, which can be reached via a level crossing from the house platform, was converted into an outside platform ; the platform can be reached via an underpass. On November 3, 1992, the first mast for electrification in Schleswig-Holstein was ceremoniously erected in Bordesholm. The signal box was shut down in October 1994, and since then the station has only consisted of two continuous tracks with a transfer point .
In the 21st century
In 2003 the reception building built in 1911 was sold as part of a redesign. It was renovated for 600,000 euros by summer 2008 and has a passenger information system . A video travel center is operated in Bordesholm .

Bordesholm is served every hour by the two regional express lines. In an hour you can reach Hamburg Central Station , according Neumünster there are six to nine minutes after Kiel twelve to thirteen. The German web is traveling the route with vehicle fleet of one to two Bombardier TWINDEXX (BR 445).
