The Gossensass train station (also Gossensass ; Italian Stazione di Colle Isarco ) is located on the Brennerbahn in South Tyrol .
location
Gossensaß train station is the first stop in the Wipptal south of the Brenner Pass , to which the railway line climbs from here via the Pflersch tunnel. It is located at 1066 m above sea level near the center of Gossensaß , the capital of the Brenner community , and the SS 12 that runs through the village .
history
The Gossensaß station was put into operation in 1867 along with the entire section of the Brenner Railway between Innsbruck and Bolzano . Through him, Gossensaß experienced its heyday as a well-known tourist destination until World War I , where Henrik Ibsen was also a guest.
In 1999 the station was given a central platform with an underpass. Extensive renovation and adaptation work dates from 2010–2013. Among other things, a waiting room was built on the platform, the facades cleaned and the roof of the reception building repaired.
Buildings
The reception building designed by Wilhelm von Flattich was initially kept relatively compact, but was extended to the south in the 19th century due to the large number of tourists. The original building is clad in greywacke , while decorative details such as the window frames are made of white limestone . On the street side, it is designed with a wooden roof gable that has been carefully crafted . The extension is made of Bressanone granite and stands out due to a wooden veranda . The building has been a listed building since 2000.
function
Gossensaß station is served by regional trains from Trenitalia and SAD , which also operate bus connections to the station.
