Reception building

The Lübbenau (Spreewald) station , in Lower Sorbian Dwórnišćo Lubnjow (Błota) , is an operating point on the Berlin – Görlitz railway line and the branching line to Kamenz (Sachs) in the municipality of Lübbenau / Spreewald in the Oberspreewald-Lausitz district in Brandenburg .

history

The Lübbenau train station was built as part of the construction of a rail link between Berlin and Görlitz . On September 13, 1866, the station went into operation with the opening of the Berlin – Cottbus section. In 1874 the branching line to Kamenz was opened. The reception building, which still exists today, was built in 1878.

In 2006, the dilapidated reception building was acquired by WIS Wohnungsbaugesellschaft im Spreewald mbH , and it was fundamentally renovated and redesigned. Today it houses a travel center with tourist information, a bicycle rental , a souvenir shop and a guesthouse . This concept has received several awards.

The station building is a listed building .

Infrastructure

The station has four tracks and three platforms . The house platform (track 1) can be reached via a staircase next to the reception building. The central platform , on which tracks 2 and 4 are located, can be reached via an underpass , which is also equipped with lifts and a wheelchair ramp .

The platforms have a system height of 76 centimeters above the top of the rails . Platforms 1 and 2 have a usable length of 298 meters, platform 3 on platform 4 is 137 meters.

In addition to the platform tracks, there is also another continuous track, and today (2017) there are several sidings connected to the south of the station in the southwest .

While the line to Berlin is double-tracked, the two lines in the south are only single-track. The station has been controlled by an electronic signal box since 2009 , via which the route from Bestensee to Vetschau is remote-controlled.
