The Gare du Mans ( French : Gare du Mans ) is the largest station of the SNCF in the French city of Le Mans . The station is used by around 12,000 passengers every day. It has 7 tracks on four platforms. The station was opened in 1854 as Gare Nord . The station has a connection to the TGV network to Paris, which can be reached in less than an hour via the LGV Atlantique . Common western destinations are Rennes , Brest and Quimper . There are also TGV connections to Lyon , Montpellier , Marseille , Lille and Strasbourg . Regional or InterCity connections exist to the nearby cities such as B. Caen , Alençon , Tours , Angers and Nantes .
