The Magdeburg-Buckau station is located near railroad tracks Magdeburg-Leipzig and Magdeburg-Thale in Magdeburg district Buckau . The branching line Biederitz – Magdeburg-Buckau is no longer in operation and has been dismantled. North of the station there is a connecting curve to the Braunschweig – Magdeburg railway line .

history

The current station building was erected between 1926 and 1928, it replaced a previous building that was about 200 meters south. It is a brick building with a hipped roof, the entrance is a four-axis risalit with a semicircular canopy. At that time it was one of the most modern train station buildings in Germany and is now a listed building .

The station is in an elevated position and has two island platforms, each with two tracks (1 + 2; 3 + 4), which can be reached through an underpass. It is equipped with elevators, paid parking spaces, bicycle parking spaces, a taxi stand and a ticket machine. From 1997 to 2016, the station building housed a soup kitchen and a wardrobe for the Magdeburger Tafel .

Direction indicator with long-range targets

In 2008, extensive track construction work took place at Magdeburg Central Station , so that not all long-distance trains could stop there. During this time the Magdeburg-Buckau train station took over the function of the long-distance train station. In 2018, too, four long-distance trains will stop in Buckau every day, as there are bottlenecks in the available tracks at the main station due to the tunnel construction. To this end, regional trains from and to Berlin will be extended to Buckau via Magdeburg Central Station.

Transport links

The train station is connected to local public transport via bus lines. The tram is within walking distance, a direct tram connection is planned.

In the 2019 timetable year, Magdeburg-Buckau station will be served by trains from the Mittelelbe S-Bahn , Abellio Rail Mitteldeutschland and DB Regio Südost .
