The Milano Nord Bovisa train station ( Italian : Stazione di Milano Nord Bovisa ) is a train station in the northern Italian city of Milan . It is operated by the Ferrovienord company and is an important hub for commuter traffic.
The station was opened in 1879 on the Milan – Saronno railway line; from there the Milano – Erba line , which was later extended to Asso , branched off .
In 1991 the station had to be completely rebuilt from two to four tracks due to the reconstruction of the line to Saronno. A new station building was built over the tracks, with two station forecourts: the southern one offers a convenient east-west connection, the northern one has remained unused to this day and will be used by a future tram line according to urban planning .
In 1997 the Passante ferroviario , an urban through-train, was added. Since then, it can also be reached from the Porta Garibaldi underground station .
traffic
The station is an important stop on numerous regional lines operated by Trenord . It is served by lines S1, S2, S3, S4 and S13 of the Milan S-Bahn , as well as regional trains to Asso , Como , Laveno and Novara , as well as the “ Malpensa Express ”. In the direction of Milan, there are mainly trains to the train stations Milano Cadorna and Milano Porta Garibaldi, the latter then on via the Passante to Rogoredo .
