The Lodi train station ( Italian : Stazione di Lodi ) is the train station of the northern Italian city of Lodi . It is operated by the Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI), an organizational unit of the Ferrovie dello Stato . From 2001 to 2018, the Centostazioni company was responsible for marketing and leasing the retail space .

The station is on the Milan – Bologna line operated by RFI .

location

The station is located in the city center, south of the old town, and has a total of five platform tracks. The station building is a type construction of the SFAI , which was also built in other simultaneous Lombard railway stations ( Lecco , Mantua , Pavia and Varese ).

history

The station was opened in 1861 as the most important station on the Milan - Piacenza section .

The plans to build further railway lines (to Brescia and Pavia in the 1860s, and to Treviglio in the 1930s) remained unrealized; However, from 1880 to 1918, two lines of the TIP overland tram network ran from the station : the Lodi – Crema – Soncino and the Lodi – Sant'Angelo Lodigiano , which were only of local importance.

Since the Second World War , commuter traffic to Milan has developed generously.
