The Milano Rogoredo station is a long-distance and regional train station in the southeast of the Italian metropolis of Milan . It is the third most important train station in the city after Centrale and Porta Garibaldi and before Lambrate . It is managed by the FS subsidiary Centostazioni SpA . In addition to Trenitalia trains, the Trenord and Nuovo Trasporto Viaggiatori trains also stop .
history
The station was opened in the 1860s. It lies at the point of separation of the Milan – Bologna (opened 1861) and Milan – Pavia (opened 1862) railway lines. The station was near the village of Rogoredo and originally had only two tracks. In 1908 a freight yard was also built.
At the end of the 1980s, planning began to modernize the station, and work began in the 1990s. B. the roofing of the platforms. A construction freeze was imposed in 1995 because of the massive budget overruns. The renovation continued in 1999. Four new platforms were built to connect the Passante underground cross-city line and the high-speed line from Milan to Bologna . In 2008, the passer-by began operating along its entire length to Porta Garibaldi station, and the importance of the station increased as a result of the extension of the Milan S-Bahn lines S1 and S2 to Lodi and Mariano Comense . Since the station played an increasingly important role in long-distance traffic, it overtook Lambrate station as the third most important station in the city.

The station is served daily by six to seven pairs of Frecciarossa trains between Torino Porta Nuova and Rome or Naples , which bypass Central Station and instead stop in Porta Garibaldi and Rogoredo, as no change of direction is required in Porta Garibaldi. These trains are the fastest train connection between Milan and Rome. In addition, a few InterCity trains stop in the direction of Genoa with their starting point or end point at Milano Centrale. The station is also served by a weekly pair of RZD night trains between Nice and Moscow .

From April 28, 2012, the Nuovo Trasporto Viaggiatori consortium plans to offer high-speed connections on the Milan-Bologna-Rome route, later also Turin-Milan, under the brand name .italo , which will stop in Milan at the Milano Porta Garibaldi and Milano Rogoredo stations.
In addition, another S-Bahn line with a stop in Rogoredo is to be set up with the S12. A start date was not yet known in April 2012.
