List of train stations in Italy |
The Milano Cadorna train station (formerly Stazione di Milano Nord ) is, along with the Stazione Centrale , the Stazione Porta Garibaldi and the Stazione Porta Genova, one of the four terminal stations in the center of the northern Italian metropolis of Milan . It is located in the north-west of the center, near the Castello Sforzesco and the Milan Triennale in Piazzale Luigi Cadorna . The station was operated by the Ferrovienord ; only trains of the Lombard railway company Trenord run from there .
history
The station was opened in 1879 when the then Società Anonima Ferrovie Milano-Saronno e Milano-Erba - the predecessor of the FNM - opened the Milan-Saronno railway line. The former station building was built like a chalet . In 1920 the station was expanded after the increased traffic. During the Second World War it was completely destroyed by Allied bombing raids. The station got its current dimensions after the rebuilding after the war.
In preparation for the Malpensa Express , which connects Cadorna with Milan-Malpensa Airport , extensive renovations were carried out in 1999 and 2000.

railroad
