Erik Pance , also Eric Pance (born April 10, 1991 in Ljubljana , SR Slovenia ) is a Slovenian ice hockey player who has been under contract with HDD Jesenice from the Alps Hockey League since November 2018 . His brother Žiga is also a professional ice hockey player.

Career

Erik Pance began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of HDD Olimpija Ljubljana , for whose professional team he made his debut in the Slovenian ice hockey league in the 2006/07 season and with which he became a champion straight away . For the 2008/09 season, the winger moved to the junior division of the Swedish professional club Malmö Redhawks , but returned to Ljubljana after six months, for which he played for the first time in the Austrian ice hockey league in the 2009/10 season. He scored two goals in 25 games and gave three assists. In the 2010/11 season he was able to fight for the first time a regular place in Ljubljana's professional team from the Austrian ice hockey league. In a total of 56 games he scored four goals and gave five assists. After the end of the season in Austria, he also ran for Olimpija in the Slovenian ice hockey league. In the 2013/14 season he first played for Kajaanin Hokki in the Mestis , the second highest Finnish division. After only seven games completed there, however, he returned to Ljubljana, where he played until the end of the season and was able to win his fourth Slovenian title. In September 2014, at the age of just 23, he retired from active sport.

In 2015 he returned to the ice as an active player and came to the quarter-finals of the MOL League 2015/16 with the Hungarian club Újpesti TE , scoring 20 goals and eleven assists. He also played a game for HK Slavija Ljubljana in the Inter-National League and scored two goals.

In 2016/17 he took part in the multinational Alps Hockey League with HDD Jesenice and scored the first goal of the league on September 17, 2016, when he scored the 1-0 lead against HC Gherdëina after 43 seconds . With two more hits, he also managed the first hat trick . In the 10-1 win against EC KAC II on October 18, 2016, Pance scored four goals and two assists. With a total of 28 goals, he finished the main round as the most successful goalscorer in the league and was voted Most Valuable Player of the AHL. Jesenice was only eliminated in the semi-finals.

In the following season he ran for the Italian league opponent HC Pustertal and scored 16 goals in the main round. In the 2018/19 season he started for Milano Rossoblu . After only nine games for the Milanese in the Alps Hockey League, Pance returned to HDD Jesenice in November 2018.

International

For Slovenia , Pance took part in the junior division of the U18 World Championship in Division I in 2008 , the U18 World Championship in Division II in 2009 and the U20 World Championship in Division I in 2009 and 2011 . Especially at the U20 World Cup in Division I in 2011, where he was the team captain of Slovenia, he was able to convince and was voted the best striker in Group B. He was also the player with the best plus / minus balance in the course of the tournament and, together with the Dane Nicolai Meyer, the top scorer of the tournament.

With the men's selection of Slovenia he played at the 2012 World Cup in Division I and rose with the team as a tournament winner in the top division.
