The Mittweida Station is located in the west of Saxony 15,000-inhabitant city Mittweida on the main route Chemnitz-Riesa . It was the starting point for the Mittweida – Drei Werden route, which is mainly used for freight traffic .
history
The connection to railway networks was important for the industrialization of the region . The station Mittweida was opened on 1 September. 1852
Between 1906 and 1997 the Mittweida – Drei Werden / Ringethal railway branched off from the station and was mainly used as an industrial line.
building
The station building, which opened on May 22, 1900, is a listed building. The building has been owned by the City of Mittweida since September 21, 2015, after it was auctioned to a private person in 2013. The city is now planning a redesign. There is a ticket agency.
Railway systems
The station has three platform tracks and a freight track, two covered platforms, a reception building, a signal box and a goods shed.
The platforms are 38 centimeters high, the main platform on track 1 is 128 meters long, and the island platform on tracks 2 and 3 124 meters can be reached through an underpass.
Importance and traffic
Until May 27, 2006 Mittweida was a stop of the Interregio -Linie Berlin– Chemnitz , today regional trains from Chemnitz to Elsterwerda that do not stop between Chemnitz and Mittweida , operated by the Central German Regiobahn ; the stops between Chemnitz main station and Mittweida are served by trains of the Chemnitz City Bahn . In Mittweida, the transfer time from the city train to the regional train and vice versa is just under half an hour.
In 1914 Mittweida was a stop for four pairs of express trains , three of which ran through Berlin- Chemnitz, plus at least eight pairs of local trains from Döbeln- Chemnitz every day .
In 1936 Mittweida stopped three daily pairs of express trains and one pair of express trains from Berlin to Chemnitz, an additional pair there before Sundays and public holidays and back on Sundays and public holidays. In addition, numerous passenger trains went to Chemnitz, less in the direction of Waldheim and Döbeln.
