List of train stations in the Netherlands |
The Naarden-Bussum train station is the largest station of the Dutch town Bussum , a district of Gooise Meren . It lies on the border with the Naarden district . The station is used by 9,465 people every day (2018). It is the central hub in urban public transport.
history
The first station was opened on June 10, 1874 with the Amsterdam – Zutphen line. The current station building, designed by HGJ Schelling, opened in 1926. The central platform, which still exists today, dates back to 1917. The current building has no bends, just straight shapes. The style can be described as Cubist Expressionism. The shape is asymmetrical. The hall dominates the whole, both outside and inside.
Until August 1, 1958, the station was also the terminus for the tram line to Huizen .
On the north side of the train station, on the border between Bussum and Naarden, is one of the last non-automatically operated railway barriers.
future
The Naarden-Bussum station is to be modernized as part of a reconstruction of the track systems in the Gooise Meren community. For this purpose, the number of tracks at the station is to be reduced from five to two. For this reason, today's central platform on tracks 2 and 3 is to be converted into a side platform . The dismantling of three tracks will create space on the west side of the station that will be used for a P + R parking lot , a bicycle parking lot and a new entrance. In addition, the station building , which is listed as a Rijksmonument , is to be renovated to shine in its old splendor.
