Railway stations in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania |
The Rövershagen train station is the train station in the town of Rövershagen in the Rostock district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . It was opened in 1888 on the Stralsund – Rostock railway line. In 1925 the railway line to Graal-Müritz was added. Long-distance trains stopped in Rövershagen until the 1990s. The station building is now a listed building.
location
Rövershagen train station is located in the center of Rövershagen on federal highway 105 . To the west, the next station is the Mönchhagen stop about four kilometers away . The Gelbensande station is located about four kilometers to the east. The closest station on the route to Graal-Müritz is the Rostock-Torfbrücke stop, seven kilometers away.
History and traffic development
On July 1, 1888, the line between Stralsund and Ribnitz was opened. The station in Rövershagen went into operation. The official opening of the railway line to Graal-Müritz followed on July 1, 1925. From this point onwards, Rövershagen was a connecting station .
During the GDR era, Rövershagen was very important for passenger traffic due to its connection to the Graal-Müritz seaside resort . Instead, even D-trains stopped at the station to change trains . Long-distance trains no longer stop in Rövershagen today. Freight traffic only takes place on a small scale. Before that, a mixing plant and a larger sawmill were the most important customers in freight transport. A loading ramp and the corresponding loading track are unused. When the passageway was renewed in the station, however, the freight tracks were initially left behind. There are already plans to remove these tracks, but this has not yet happened. The freight tracks were last used for the Force Attack Festival, which took place annually at Rövershagen until 2008 . Special trains were parked there for this purpose. After the festival was moved to Klingendorf , these tracks were no longer used.
DB Cargo's only customer on the entire route is located in Rövershagen . A gas trader based there is regularly supplied with tank wagons. On the line to Graal-Müritz, the siding branches off shortly after the level crossing on the B 105 .
In 1998 the route to Graal-Müritz had to be closed due to considerable damage. Initially, rail replacement services were offered by buses. After several requests arose in 2003 to reactivate the line, construction work began in September 2004. When the timetable was changed three months later, the line could be reopened and Rövershagen regained its status as a connecting station.
With the route renovation, a double cross switch was removed from the station . The use of modern railcars with two powered end cars means that the locomotives no longer need to be re-spooled. Therefore, from platform 3 it is only possible to drive to Graal-Müritz and no longer to Ribnitz-Damgarten.
The level crossing at the western exit of the station was renewed in April 2016. The loading track on the loading road was also separated from other track systems. It is still unknown whether the track will be completely dismantled. The level crossing in the direction of Graal-Müritz was secured by an electric half-barrier until spring 2015 and monitored remotely by the B1 signal box. The system has now been modernized.

Platforms and tracks
The station has a central platform on the continuous Stralsund – Rostock line. To the north of it there is a separate part with a side platform that serves the trains to Graal-Müritz, which start and end in Rövershagen. After almost all trains to and from Rostock have been tied there since 2004, it is only used by one pair of trains at lunchtime. The mixing plant, which had its own track system and connected to the Graal-Müritz line, still existed until the 1990s. But this is no longer available today. The connection of the gas dealer, which is already older than the branch off, with the loading road runs parallel to the B 105.
Today the central platform has a length of 140 meters and a height of 38 centimeters on both sides. The third platform is 80 meters long and 34 centimeters high.
Reception building
The station building on the Stralsund – Rostock route is a listed building and is used for business purposes and as a residential building.
The white station building on the line to Graal-Müritz was built by Mecklenburgische Bäderbahn AG. Although it was renovated after the fall of the Wall, it is now empty after a long period of use as a residential building.
Other outbuildings of the station are now used as residential buildings.
Control and safety technology
The Rövershagener Bahnhof is still manned by local staff. The dispatcher is housed in the reception building. The signal box (B1), which went into operation in 1991, is a GS II DR track diagram of the WSSB . The guard signal box W2 thus completely lost its importance and was almost completely eliminated. Since then, the points have been powered electrically. In the station are Holy signals secured. Until the level crossing in the direction of Rostock was rebuilt in April 2016, it was secured with a mechanical half-barrier and an electric winch. This barrier system comes from the Pintsch-Bamag company. This is controlled by the interlocking B1.
