The Siegelsbach train station is the train station of the Baden-Württemberg community of Siegelsbach in the Heilbronn district . It is located on the Krebsbachtalbahn, which opened in 1902, from Neckarbischofsheim Nord to Hüffenhardt . The station has a platform track and a platform-less crossing track, which can be used to park trains.

history

The limestone quarries in the Krebsbachtal between the towns of Helmhof and Obergimpern made a rail connection seem cheap. This is how the Krebsbachtalbahn opened on October 15, 1902, a branch line from Neckarbischofsheim via Helmhof, Obergimpern and Siegelsbach to Hüffenhardt; Scheduled traffic began a day later.

From 1907, a narrow-gauge track led from the Siegelsbach quarries to the Siegelsbach train station , which was exclusively used for freight traffic. The old Wagenbacher Weg gained importance as Bahnhofstrasse through the station and the siding and marked the growth of the place to the west.

From 1930 the bus line also ran from Bad Rappenau to Helmstadt via the Siegelsbach train station.

In 1939 the construction of an army ammunition plant began in the Schlagwald forest west of the village. To the west of the railway line, apartments were also built for Wehrmacht employees. The ammunition company received its own siding . A total of around 18 kilometers of track were laid in it - more than the entire length of the main route through the Krebsbachtal.

In 1940 the station was expanded and two years later a separate stopping point for the branch line was set up at Munawald , which was named after the commanding officer at the time, Captain Thoms Thomshütten , later named Siegelsbach Wald . Today this breakpoint is dismantled. Adjacent to the "Wehrmacht houses" to the west of the railway line, several "wild buildings" were built that were taken over by the Badische Landsiedlung.

In August 2009, construction work began on the electrification and conversion of the neighboring Schwarzbachtalbahn for the RheinNeckar S-Bahn . Without an operation between Meckesheim and Neckarbischofsheim Nord or Aglasterhausen , the Krebsbachtalbahn would have become an island operation . Both SWEG and the Baden-Württemberg state government therefore made it clear in 2006 that operations between Neckarbischofsheim and Hüffenhardt will end by summer 2009 at the latest. Thanks to the initiative of the Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Neckar (VRN), the districts, the Baden-Württemberg local transport company (NVBW) and the municipalities, there has been a leisure service with Uerdingen rail buses on Sundays and public holidays from June to October since 2010 . With four trips in each direction, all previous stops on the way are served every two hours. The regular network tickets of the VRN are valid as a ticket.

Reception building

The station building of the Siegelsbach train station was originally a small two-story building on a narrow rectangular floor plan. The building with gable gables on the eaves side facing Bahnhofstrasse and the platform had a stone base, the upper floor was constructed in half-timbered construction and clad with wood. Due to numerous conversions and additions, the original design of the building, which has now been used as a restaurant , can hardly be recognized.

business

On Sundays and public holidays from May to October there is an excursion on the Krebsbachtalbahn. Uerdingen rail buses were used in the past, and an Esslingen railcar has been in service since 2011 .
