Railway stations in Baden-Württemberg |
The Tiengen (Hochrhein) Bahnhof is after the station Waldshut the second most important station of the South Baden town of Waldshut-Tiengen . He is on the of Baden Basel Bahnhof Waldshut and Schaffhausen by Constance leading Upper Rhine Railway .
location
The train station is about five minutes' walk from downtown Tiengen.
history
After the section from Basel Bad Bf to Bad Säckingen was opened on February 4, 1856 and the second section to Waldshut on October 30, 1856 , further construction in the direction of Schaffhausen came to a halt . It was not until June 15, 1863, around 7 ½ years later, that the entire railway line from Basel to Constance could be used.
Against massive protest from the population, the ticket office at Tiengen train station was closed on January 1, 2005.
Track systems
The Tiengen station once had a total of five tracks, three of which had a platform. In 2015 the station, which has since been downgraded to a simple stopping point , only has one track on the house platform . The former platform track 2 is still preserved, except for the dismantled sections of the line at the ends of the station, but partly overgrown and can therefore no longer be operated. The former tracks 2 and 3 were located on a central platform that is still largely in place today , to which access is no longer possible. The former tracks 3–5 are now overgrown and dismantled. Together with track 2 and the central platform, they form an industrial wasteland .
The remaining platform of the Tiengen train station was made barrier-free a few years ago , so that it now offers ground-level access to the regional trains that run here . However, the DB class 612 vehicles used on the Basel – Ulm connection do not offer barrier-free access to the trains.
Reception building
The station building of the Tiengen train station stood empty for a long time. In July 2012, Stadtwerke Waldshut-Tiengen bought it from DB Services Immobilien GmbH and renovated it. Since then, the Stadtwerke's customer center, a tax consultancy and a train station restaurant have been located in the station building.
