Bakary "Kanu" Daffeh (born November 6, 1995 ; more rarely Bakary Daffé ) is a Gambian football player . His name became famous after Sport Bild reported in early August 2019 that it was suspected that Daffeh might be Bakery Jatta (* 1998).

Career

In the club

Daffeh began his career in The Gambia with Commit FC , for which he has played since at least 2009. For the 2010/11 season he moved to the second division team Gunjur United , before moving to the first division club Brikama United for the 2011/12 season. There was part of the squad in the CAF Champions League in the 2012 season . He played on loan at Nigerian first division club 36 Lion FC from Lagos for nine months in 2012 and returned to Brikama United in early 2013. According to the transfer Registration System (TRS) of the FIFA he was registered on the club until November, 2013. At the beginning of December 2013, Daffeh switched to the Senegalese first division club Casa Sports from Ziguinchor for a year on loan . He initially played for Casa Sports until the end of the 2013-14 season, returned to Brikama United from July to November 2014 and played again for Casa Sports between December 2014 and January 2015. His last assignment for the Senegalese club was on January 11, 2015. From January 2015 Daffeh completed a trial training session in Italy with the then third division club AS Pro Piacenza 1919 . He returned to Brikama United in early 2015 and was last mentioned in a match report in April 2015. Since then, no more performance data and management affiliations for Daffeh have been recorded.

In the national team

Daffeh played at least once for the Gambia's U20 national team in April 2014 when he scored the winning goal in a 1-0 win against Liberia as part of qualifying for the 2015 U20 Africa Cup . Since the Gambian team used five players who were born before January 1, 1995, all Gambian national teams were excluded from all continental competitions by the CAF .

Related to Bakery Jatta

At the beginning of August 2019, Sport Bild published the result of its research , which suggests that Daffeh entered Germany as Bakery Jatta in 2015 in the course of the refugee crisis and pretended to be three years younger. Two of his alleged former coaches have confirmed his identities after the report. In addition, no further game for Daffeh can be proven beyond 2015. Another indication is the extreme visual resemblance of Daffeh and Jatta, which the media found out, which can be seen in team photos. However, the suspicion has not yet been proven. At the beginning of September 2019, the Hamburg-Mitte district office closed its investigations against Jatta because of the alleged forgery of identity, as there were no reliable indications that would justify measures under the law on foreigners.

On September 19, 2019, the Bild-Zeitung reported that Bakary Jatta had given the name Bakary Daffeh in his email address to the Bremen authorities in 2015 . The Gröpelingen / Walle social center submitted copies of Jatta's personal form to the Bremen police on September 3, stating that there were major inconsistencies in the case. When asked by Norddeutscher Rundfunk , the Bremen public prosecutor's office confirmed the renewed examination of the facts. A few weeks later, however, it announced that it would not investigate; the case is closed from their point of view. At the beginning of July 2020, the Hamburg public prosecutor's office again investigated the suspicion that Daffeh could be Jatta's true identity.
