history

The company in its current form emerged from a series of law firm mergers and for a long time operated under the name RölfsPartner and until March 2017 as Baker Tilly Roelfs .

In 1997 the company emerged from the merger of the law firm founded in 1979 by the later chairman Jochen Rölfs and the law firm Altenburg & Tewes founded in 1910. In 2005, with the inclusion of Allrevision Dornhof Kloss und Partner GmbH, based in Hamburg, and the firm Brandau & Köster from Dortmund, two further mergers took place.

Another merger took place in 2009: intra management consulting was taken over by the management consultants of the RölfsPartner Group. At the end of 2010, RölfsPartner joined forces with the law firm RP Richter & Partner, Munich / Stuttgart, in order to strengthen its position in southern Germany as well as in the field of tax and legal advice.

The namesake of RölfsPartner, Jochen Rölfs, died of cancer on August 4, 2012 at the age of 63.

Baker Tilly Roelfs emerged from RölfsPartner on September 30, 2013 by renaming the company name, without this change of name being accompanied by changes in ownership.

In 2014 the takeover of Karl Berg GmbH including all subsidiaries and BFCS - Business & Finance Consulting Services GmbH (both with headquarters in Düsseldorf) followed in 2015 the merger with TPW Todt & Partner GmbH & Co. KG (Hamburg) .

In March 2017 the company was renamed Baker Tilly.

The company is a member of Baker Tilly International , a worldwide network of independent auditing and consulting firms with total sales of 3.6 billion US dollars in 2018. International assignments are processed through this association of accounting firms.

Services

Baker Tilly provides auditing, tax advice, legal advice and business advice services.

In addition, cross-divisional competencies are bundled in so-called competence centers. The following competence centers currently exist: Financial Services, Fraud - Risk - Compliance, Health Care, Private Clients, Public Sector, Real Estate, Restructuring, Shipping, Sports, Transactions and Valuation. Baker Tilly mainly advises large, mostly internationally active, medium-sized companies . Other focal points are wealthy families, the public sector , foundations and associations as well as banks and other financial service providers .

Clients

Individual services such as company valuations , fraud investigation or litigation are also aimed at large corporations. There are also private equity and venture capital funds that work with Baker Tilly transaction advisors. Originally there was a strong focus on restructuring mandates, also widely known as restructuring advice, which had led to prominent mandates. The predecessor company, RölfsPartner, became known to a broader public through its advisory mandate for the Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund . Here Jochen Rölfs had received the order to renovate the football club , which was about to go bankrupt .
