Balthasar Wüst
Balthasar Wuest , even Father Celestine (* the thirtieth January 1720 in Kleinwenkheim , the district of Bad Kissingen , † 7. February 1761 in Mainz ) was a German Augustinian - Father , musician and composer.
Life
He was the son of Georg Wüst and his wife Magdalena. From 1737 to 1741 he attended the Johann-Philipp-von-Schönborn-Gymnasium in Münnerstadt , led by the Augustinian order . There he was temporarily sacristan or consultor of the Marian Congregation ( Congregatio Mariae Virginis de Consolatione ). On October 30, 1742, he made his religious vows (profession) there and took the religious name Celestine . Then he switched to studying philosophy in Breisach . On September 18, 1745 he was ordained a priest . From 1746 to 1749 he worked as an organist in Uttenweiler .
He was then transferred to the monastery in Mainz, where he worked as a confessor , preacher and organist. With Johannes Petrus Bonfig (1730–1797), Wüst was one of the most important musicians at the Augustinian monastery there. In Mainz it was called "nobilis organista" or "organista celeberimus".
