Ban Island is an island in the Kodiak Archipelago in Alaska in the United States . It is located in a bay on the north side of Afognak Island . The island is 28.79 km² and uninhabited. Your name was taken from the Russian. It is believed that it is derived from the word "banya" for sauna or bathhouse.
The island was assigned to the Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge in 1980 by the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act .
