Amphoe Ban Khai (in Thai : อำเภอ บ้านค่าย ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district) in Rayong Province . Rayong Province is located in the east of the central region of Thailand .

geography

Neighboring districts (clockwise from west): the Amphoe Nikhom Phatthana , Pluak Daeng , Wang Chan and Mueang Rayong . All districts belong to Rayong Province.

history

When Ayutthaya , the capital of Siam , was destroyed by the Burmese in 1767 , the later King Taksin gathered his troops at Chanthaburi in order to build a military base from which the resistance against Burma could be carried out. On the way to Chanthaburi he set up a night camp (Thai: khai - ค่าย ) in the area of today's Ban Khai.

Ban Khai became a county of Rayong Province in 1902.

The Rayong campus of King Mongkut's University of Technology North Bangkok is located in the Ban Khai district .

There are three municipalities with "small town" status ( Thesaban Tambon ) in the district:

Ban Khai Phatthana (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล บ้านค่าย พัฒนา ) consisting of parts of the Tambon Ban Khai.
Chak Bok (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ชา ก บก ) consisting of the complete Tambon Chak Bok.
Ban Khai (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล บ้านค่าย ) consisting of the parts of the tambon Ban Khai, Nong Lalok.

There are also five " tambon administration organizations " ( องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - Tambon Administrative Organizations, TAO)

Nong Lalok (Thai: องค์การ บริหารส่วน ตำบล หนอง ละลอก ) consisting of parts of the Tambon Nong Lalok.
Nong Taphan (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล หนอง ตะพาน ) consisting of the complete Tambon Nong Taphan.
Ta Khan (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล ตา ขัน ) consisting of the complete tambon Ta Khan.
Bang But (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล บาง บุตร ) consisting of the complete tambon Bang But.
Nong Bua (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล หนองบัว ) consisting of the complete Tambon Nong Bua.
