architecture
The 317 meter high building in downtown Atlanta was designed by Kevin Roche and his architectural office Kevin Roche John Dinkeloo & Associates and erected between 1991 and 1993 as a Nations Bank Building within 14 months . The cost amounted to 150 million US dollars . It is owned by Bank of America , the direct successor to NationsBank .
The building has 55 floors with office space. There is a point on the building covered with gold leaf .
The skyscraper ranks 19th on the list of tallest buildings in the United States and is the tallest building in Atlanta itself. At the same time, until the completion of the Wilshire Grand Tower in Los Angeles in 2017, it was the tallest building in the USA outside of the cities of New York and Chicago .
The architecture of the Bank of America Plaza is similar to the Messeturm in Frankfurt am Main , which was completed in 1990.
Some sources give the building's height at 311.8 meters. However, this is due to the fact that the structure was measured at a higher entrance. According to the criteria of the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat , an internationally recognized commission for height issues , all skyscrapers have been measured from the lowest outdoor entrance since 2009, which results in a height difference of five meters in the case of the Bank of America Plaza.
