Banyliw ( Ukrainian Банилів ; Russian Банилов Banilow , Romanian Bănila pe Ceremuş , German until 1918 Russian Banilla ) is a village in the historical region of Bukovina in the Ukrainian Oblast Chernivtsi with about 3900 inhabitants (2004).
The village in northern Bukovina , first mentioned in writing in 1445, was located on the long-fought border between the Principality of Moldova and the Kingdom of Poland .
Banyliw is located 260 m above sea level in the Cheremosh valley and on the T-26-01 territorial road and is the administrative center of the district council of the same name in the north of Vyshnytsia district , to which the village of Bereschnytsja ( Бережниця ⊙ ) with about 630 inhabitants belongs. The village has a train station on the Savallia – Vyshnytsia railway line .
Banyliw is located about 17 km northeast of the Vyshnytsia district center and about 55 km west of the Chernivtsi Oblast center .
