Baoquan Song (* 1961 in Tianjin , China ) is a Sino-German aerial photograph archaeologist .

Life

From 1980 to 1982 he studied history and museum studies at Nankai University Tianjin and attended Shanghai College at Tongji University Shanghai , where he did his German Abitur in spring 1982. From 1982 to 1988 he continued his studies at the Ruhr University Bochum in the subjects of prehistory and early history , classical archeology and Chinese history , where he received his doctorate in the first-mentioned subject in 1992. Parallel to his studies, he did practical training in aerial archeology from 1984 with Otto Braasch in the Landshut branch of the Bavarian State Office for Land Monument Preservation . After that he moved back to China, where he worked as a research assistant on the research project "Possible uses of modern aerial archeology in the PR China" from 1992 to 1994 . This was followed by archaeological aerial surveys in Henan, central China, in 1996 , and archaeological aerial surveys in Chifeng, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region , northern China in 1997 .

In 2001 he returned to the Ruhr University Bochum, where he has been a research assistant at the Chair for Prehistory and Protohistory. Many more prospections followed in Europe , including a .:

Since 2003, aerial archaeological surveys have been taking place regularly on the Lower Rhine with a focus on the Xanten area, and since 2010 also in Westphalia.
