Baptiste Planckaert (born September 28, 1988 in Kortrijk ) is a Belgian cyclist .
Athletic career
Baptiste Planckaert won the Belgian one-day race Omloop Het Nieuwsblad in 2004 in the youth class. In the 2009 season he won a stage in the U23 class at the Triptyque des Monts et Châteaux . He also started at the European Road Championships, where he finished 19th in the road race.
In 2015 Planckaert won the Kattekoers , the U23 race from Gent – Wevelgem . The following year was his most successful to date: he won the Tour de Normandie , the Tour du Finistère , the Polynormande and a stage of the Czech Cycling Tour . He also decided the points classification of the Circuit des Ardennes and the Tour of Belgium for himself and the mountain classification of the Tour de Wallonie . These successes led him to win the overall ranking of the UCI Europe Tour .
Planckaert then drove for two years for the UCI WorldTeam Katusha Alpecin , but was unable to build on his previous successes. In 2019 he won for the UCI Professional Continental Team Wallonie-Bruxelles around Cologne .
family
Baptiste Planckaert is not related to the cycling family of Willy , Walter and Eddy Planckaert . For his part, he has two younger brothers who are active racing cyclists, Emile and Edward .
