Baptist Church (Berlin-Schöneberg)
The Baptist Church in Berlin-Schöneberg was built in 1970. It is the place of worship and assembly of the Evangelical Free Church Community ( Baptists ) in the Berlin district of Schöneberg and is located in Hauptstrasse 125A.
history
The property owner Gustav Mette had the residential building at Hauptstrasse 125 built by the architect E. Günzel in 1891 . In 1931 the “Community of Christians baptized in faith” leased the house from Gustav Mette and set up a prayer room combining the most important rooms on the first floor . From 1966 the Baptist congregation was renamed the Evangelical Free Church Community Berlin-Schöneberg and bought the house in 1967. In 1970 a new community center was completed on the property and in 2001 a multi-purpose hall with many multifunctional group rooms was added.
Building description
The building complex consists of the church and other building wings . To Feurigstraße towards one was gym grown . An outside staircase leads to the anteroom of the community center and from there to the church, which slopes down like an amphitheater to the altar area, where the baptismal font for the baptism of adults is also located. There are further community and conference rooms in the basement.
Furnishing
In 1972 an organ was purchased from Paschen Kiel Orgelbau . More information can be found here.
