Barbara Höll

Barbara Höll born Eisenberger (born December 26, 1957 in Coswig ) is a German politician ( Die Linke ). From 2005 to 2009 she was deputy chairman of the left-wing parliamentary group in the German Bundestag .

Life and work

After graduating from high school in Halle in 1976 , Barbara Höll studied philosophy at the state university in Rostov-on-Don , which she completed in 1981 with a degree in philosophy . She then worked as a research assistant at the Leipzig Graduate School of Management until 1990 . In 1988 she received her doctorate as Dr. phil. at the Pädagogische Hochschule Magdeburg with the work on the mode of action and reflection of needs as driving forces of human action from a historical perspective .

Barbara Höll is non-denominational , divorced and the mother of three children.

Political party

From 1976 to 1990 she was a member of the SED . After she had moved into the Bundestag as a representative of the Democratic Women's Association since 1990 via the open list of the PDS , she also joined the PDS in 1996. Until November 2005 she was deputy PDS state chairman in Saxony .

In April 2005 she ran for the office of Lord Mayor of Leipzig , but could not prevail against incumbent Wolfgang Tiefensee ( SPD ). In January and February (runoff) 2013 she ran again unsuccessfully for office.

Höll is the Saxon state spokeswoman for the forum for democratic socialism .

MPs

Barbara Höll was from 1990 to 2002 and has been a member of the German Bundestag again since 2005 . Here she is since November 2005 Head of Group Working Group Economy, Labor and Finance and deputy chairman of the parliamentary group Die Linke. Höll was spokeswoman for lesbian and gay politics in her group.

From 2004 until the resignation of her mandate on October 23, 2005, Barbara Höll was a member of the Saxon state parliament as a directly elected member of the Leipzig V constituency . Here she was spokeswoman for the PDS group for gender equality policy . For she moved René Fröhlich according to the state parliament.

In June 2008, Höll met her colleague Jan Korte , both supporters of the LEFT grouping Forum Democratic Socialism , with representatives of the SPD parliamentary left in the Walden restaurant in Berlin, which in the press became the " Walden Connection ".

It was always drawn into the Bundestag via the state list of Saxony. Her constituency was Leipzig I , and Höll was running for the 17th Bundestag in third place on the Saxon state list of the Left. For the federal election on September 22, 2013 she came in 9th place. Since only eight representatives of the Saxon state list of the party Die Linke are represented in the 18th German Bundestag, Höll had lost her Bundestag mandate.

Social offices

Barbara Höll is the deputy chairwoman of the social welfare organization of the Democratic Women's Association. V. (dfb) and chairwoman of the association of the parliamentary group DIE LINKE e. V. Höll is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Federal Magnus Hirschfeld Foundation and a board member of the German Parliamentary Society. As a board member, Barbara Höll is committed to the aid organization Help - help for self-help .
