Barbara Hallensleben

Barbara Hallensleben (born January 6, 1957 in Braunschweig ) is a German Roman Catholic theologian and university teacher .

Life

The daughter of the independent bookseller Horst Hallensleben and his wife Ursula, b. Rupnik attended the Catholic elementary school St. Laurentius from 1963 to 1966 and graduated from high school in 1975 at the Ina Seidel School (Braunschweig) , a mathematical and natural science branch. From 1975 to 1984 she studied Catholic theology, philosophy and history at the University of Münster . In the summer semester 1980 she passed the diploma in Catholic theology, in the summer semester 1981 the state examination for secondary level II in the subject history, in the winter semester 1981/1982 the state examination for upper secondary level II in the subject philosophy, on February 1, 1985 the doctorate in the subject church history on the subject “Communicatio . Anthropology and Doctrine of Grace with Thomas de Vio Cajetan ”and in July 1987 she passed her second service examination as pastoral assistant .

From 1977 to 1981 she was a scholarship holder of the Cusanuswerk's Episcopal Study Fund . From 1980 to 1983 she was a research assistant at the chair for Middle and Modern Church History with Erwin Iserloh , during this time she participated in lectures and academic projects, especially in the field of theology of ecumenism. From 1984 to 1987 she was a pastoral assistant in St. Martin (Groß-Buchholz) and participated in the corresponding training of the Hildesheim diocese ; during this time u. a. two years of vocational school. From 1985 to 1987 she did an extra-occupational training in retreat accompaniment with the communities of Christian life; Retreat accompaniment for groups and individuals. 1987/1988 she worked as a pastor in the parish of St. Paulus (Göttingen) . The pastor of this parish was Nikolaus Wyrwoll . From 1988 to 1989 she worked in the organizational secretariat for the preparation and implementation of the European Ecumenical Assembly "Peace in Justice" in Basel .

From 1989 to 1992 she had a habilitation grant from the Görres Society ; Preparation of the habilitation at the Catholic Theological Faculty of the University of Tübingen in the subject dogmatics on the topic: "Theology of the mission in the origin with Ignatius von Loyola and Mary Ward". After completing the habilitation process on July 10, 1992, she was a lecturer in dogmatics at the University of Friborg in 1993/1994 . Since the winter semester 1994/1995 she has been teaching as a full professor for dogmatics and theology of ecumenism at the theological faculty of the University of Friborg and is a member of the board of directors of the “Institute for Ecumenical Studies”. From 2004 to 2006 she was the dean of the theological faculty.

In 2006, together with Nikolaus Wyrwoll and Guido Vergauwen , she founded the Silver Rose of St. Nicholas of Myra as further initiators . The first recipient was Metropolitan Kirill , Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia since January 27, 2009.

From 2008 to 2012 she was President of the Local Research Commission of the Swiss National Science Foundation at the University of Friborg.

In the new study commission, through which Pope Francis is re-examining the possibility of admitting women to the ordination office , one of the five women appointed is one of the ten commissioners Hallensleben.
