Barbara Kolm

Barbara Kolm (born Barbara Lamprecht in Innsbruck on November 28, 1964 ) is an Austrian economist and former politician ( FPÖ ). She is the head of the Friedrich A. v. Hayek Institute (since 2000) and member of other business-liberal organizations, the Supervisory Board of ÖBB-Holding AG (February 2018 to May 2020) and the University Council of the Vienna University of Economics and Business (since 2018) and, since September 1, 2018, Vice-President of the General Council of the Oesterreichische Nationalbank .

Life

Barbara Kolm has headed the Friedrich A. v. Hayek Institute , which sees itself in the tradition of the economically liberal Austrian School of Economics . As a board member of the Austrian Economics Center, member of the Mont Pèlerin Society and President of the European Center for Economic Growth, she is dedicated to promoting a free market and deregulation . She is also Associate Professor for the Austrian School of Economics at the Donja Gorica Private University near Podgorica in Montenegro .

From 1994 to 2000 and 2003 to 2006 Kolm was for the FPÖ in the Innsbruck municipal council, where she headed the control committee. In 2011 she was invited by the FPÖ as an expert to the parliament's budget committee. In June 2016 the FPÖ nominated Kolm for the position of President of the Court of Auditors , but was not elected by the National Council.

After the Federal Government Kurz I , an ÖVP -FPÖ coalition, took office as part of the negotiating team on the part of the FPÖ, she became a member of this body when the Supervisory Board of ÖBB-Holding AG was replaced in February 2018, but became a member Not re-ordered at the end of May 2020. Kolm worked for several years as a management consultant and for this branch also as a representative in the UBIT trade association of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce .
