Barbara Neuhaus

Barbara Neuhaus , b. Kurzer (born October 29, 1924 in Reichenstein , Lower Silesia Province ; † February 28, 2007 ) was a German writer and radio play author .

Life

Neuhaus was born on October 29, 1924 in Reichenstein, then Silesian, as the daughter of a chemist and a teacher. She attended schools in Reichenstein, Patschkau and Glatz , where she also graduated from high school in 1942. She then trained as an editor until 1944, after which she was obliged to do military service. After the end of the war, Neuhaus initially found a job in Glatz as the German editor of the “Official News Gazette of the Red Army for the German Population”. In 1947 she was expelled from her home country and went to Trebbin in the Soviet zone of occupation . In 1948 she found a job as a farm worker on the Volksgut in Siethen and with a new farmer . In 1949 she became a member of the Democratic Peasant Party of Germany (DBD) and initially editor for women's issues and in 1951 head of culture at the DBD central organ Bauernecho . From 1951 she was a member of the DBD district board in Berlin and its secretariat for a few years. In 1953 she moved into the East Berlin city council for the DBD . In November 1954 she was named by the city council as the Berlin representative of the DBD for the People's Chamber, of which she was a member of the 2nd and 3rd electoral periods until 1963. From 1955 she was a member of the editorial board of Bauernecho and, in addition to her professional work, completed a distance learning course in journalism at the KMU Leipzig , which she graduated in 1963 with a degree in journalism. From 1964 Neuhaus worked as a freelance author.

Neuhaus' literary work includes a whole series of detective novels, some of which appeared in the DIE - Delicts clues investigations series. At the same time she was also active extensively for radio. In addition to detective radio plays , she wrote 23 episodes between 1974 and 1981 for the long-lived family series Neumann, 2x ringing, broadcast by radio in the GDR .

Barbara Neuhaus was married to the writer Wolfgang Neuhaus (1929–1966) from 1952 until his death . She published his last work, a documentary report entitled Kampf gegen Sternlauf , after completing it in 1968.

Barbara Neuhaus died at the age of 82.
