Barry Wood

Barry Alexander Anthony Wood OMI (born June 13, 1942 in Port Elizabeth , South Africa ; † May 2, 2017 ) was a South African, Roman Catholic religious and auxiliary bishop in Durban .

Life

Barry Wood joined the congregation of the Huenfeld Oblates and was ordained a priest on July 14, 1968 . In 1999 he was appointed Vicar General and Chancellor of the Diocesan Curia of the Archdiocese of Durban. In 2003 he was appointed Episcopal Vicar .

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on October 10, 2005 auxiliary bishop in Durban and titular bishop of Babra . The Archbishop of Durban, Cardinal Wilfrid Fox Napier OFM , ordained him episcopal on February 26 of the following year; Co- consecrators were Jabulani Adatus Nxumalo OMI, Archbishop of Bloemfontein , and Liborius Ndumbukuti Nashenda OMI, Archbishop of Windhoek .
