Bas-Sassandra is a district of the Ivory Coast with the capital San-Pédro . Until 2011, Bas-Sassandra was one of 19 regions in Ivory Coast . When it was converted into a district, Bas-Sassandra was enlarged to include the Fresco department from the Sud-Bandama region .

According to the 2014 census, 2,280,547 people live in the district. In the 1988 census, there were 644,805 inhabitants.

geography

Bas-Sassandra is located in the southwest of the Ivory Coast and borders on Montagnes and Sassandra-Marahoué to the north and Gôh-Djiboua and Lagunes to the east . The district is divided into the three regions Gbôklé (with the departments Fresco and Sassandra), Nawa (with the departments Buyo, Guéyo, Méagui and Soubré) and San-Pédro (with the departments San-Pédro and Tabou).
