Bélier is an administrative region of the Ivory Coast , in the Lacs district in the center of the country.
It borders in the north on the Vallée du Bandama district (with the Gbêkê region ), in the northeast on the Iffou region , in the east on N'zi , in the southeast on Maranou , in the south on the Lagunes district (with the Agnéby-Tiassa region ) , in the southwest to the Gôh-Djiboua district (with the Gôh region ) and in the northwest to Sassandra-Marahoué (with the Marahoué region ). Bélier is separated into a northern and a southern part by the Yamoussoukro Autonomous District . The city of Yamoussoukro, although not in the Béliers area, is its capital. Bélier was recreated on September 28, 2011. According to the 2014 census, Bélier is home to 346,768 people on an area of 6809 km², resulting in a population density of 50.9 inhabitants per km². The region is divided into the departments Didiévi , Djékanou , Tiébissou and Toumodi .
Agricultural products of the region include cocoa and coffee for export, but also oil palms and cashews . Both the motorway from Abidjan to Yamoussoukro and the Abidjan-Niger railway to Burkina Faso cross the region in a north-south direction.
