Lagunes ( French lagunes "lagoons" ) is a district of the Ivory Coast , located in the southeast of the country.

It borders in the north on Lacs (with the regions Bélier and Moronou ), in the east on Comoé (with the regions Indénié-Djuablin and Sud-Comoé ), in the south on the Autonomous District of Abidjan and the Atlantic Ocean , in the southwest on Bas-Sassandra (with the Gbôklé region ) and in the northwest at Gôh-Djiboua (with the Gôh and Lôh-Djiboua regions ). The district is divided into the regions Agnéby-Tiassa , Grands Ponts and La Mé , the capital is Dabou . Lagunes has existed since September 28, 2011, when the districts replaced the regions as the highest administrative unit. According to the 2014 census, 1,478,047 people live in the district, resulting in a population density of 63.5 inhabitants per km².
