Basdorf is a district of the city of Rheinsberg in Brandenburg .
Geographical location
Basdorf is located 12 kilometers west of the main town as a street village in a cleared forest. Neighboring towns are Neuglienicke, Wallitz and Gadow.
history
Basdorf was first mentioned in a document in 1375. After a fire in 1525, the village was not settled again until 1753.
After the fall of the Wall, Basdorf was the smallest independent municipality in the newly founded state of Brandenburg with 28 inhabitants. On October 26, 2003 Basdorf was incorporated into the city of Rheinsberg.
Transport and infrastructure
Basdorf can only be reached via a small cul-de-sac. This road is still unpaved and difficult to drive on with road vehicles. Up until now, expansion of the road has failed due to property disputes.
During the 2017 federal election , Basdorf received media attention: With 23 eligible voters, Basdorf is one of the smallest electoral districts in Germany. Since 18 eligible voters opted for postal voting , the polling station with six electoral workers is only open to the five remaining eligible voters.
