history

The place was originally called Vargatin (Slavic place of Vargata ). In 1525 the medieval village was mentioned in a document as Wernthin . The name Warenthin first appeared in a document in 1598.

Until the 18th century , the Warenthin field was exclusively used for sheep farming and logging.

In 1728 the Great Military Orphanage in Potsdam bought the area. Following the acquisition of Feldmark by the Court Chamber of Prince Friedrich Heinrich Ludwig of Prussia in 1776, the sheep was in a Vorwerk converted, and seven Kolonistenbüdner settled here.

The place has also been used for tourism since around 1905, after the entrepreneur Kittel converted the manor into a guest house. Until December 31, 1928 Warenthin belonged to the forestry district Oberförsterei Rheinsberg Amt, after which the place was reclassified to Linow. During the GDR era, the place was popular for its company holiday facilities, such as the VEB Kühlautomat Berlin holiday home and bungalow settlements for various companies.

On October 26, 2003, the place came to the city of Rheinsberg as part of the municipal reform of the state of Brandenburg through the dissolution of the municipality of Linow.
