Basilios Fawzy Al-Dabe

Basilios Fawzy Al-Dabe (born December 16, 1956 in Egypt ) is an Egyptian clergyman and Coptic Catholic Bishop of Sohag .

Life

Basilios Fawzy Al-Dabe graduated from Cairo University with a degree in art in 1978 . After studying philosophy and Catholic theology at the seminary in Maadi , he received the sacrament of ordination on March 28, 1980 .

Al-Dabe then worked as a pastor in al-Minya before he became pastor in Maghagha in 1983 . From 1989 he was pastor of the cathedral in al-Minya and from 1994 he was also responsible for the Catholic schools in the Eparchy of Minya .

The Synod of Bishops of the Coptic Catholic Church elected him Bishop of Sohag. This election was confirmed by Pope Francis on June 14, 2019. The Coptic Catholic Patriarch of Alexandria , Ibrahim Isaac Sidrak , donated him episcopal ordination on August 4 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Assiut , Kyrillos Kamal William Samaan OFM , the Bishop Emeritus of Sohag , Youssef Aboul-Kheir , the Bishop Emeritus of Ismayliah , Makarios Tewfik , the Bishop of Minya , Kamal Fahim Awad Boutros Hanna , the Bishop of Luxor , Emmanuel Bishay , the Bishop of Giza , Toma Adly Zaki , and the emeritus Coptic Catholic Patriarch of Alexandria, Antonios Cardinal Naguib .
