European Basketball Championship 2009 / Division B
The B Division was lower in two-stage qualification system for the 2009 European Championships . In 2009, Division B comprised 15 European national basketball teams. Among them are 12 teams that played in Division B in 2007 but did not advance there. In Division A 2007 , the Danish and Swedish national teams were relegated to Division B. As the 15th team, Montenegro took part in a qualification for the European Championship for the first time after independence. Division B games took place from September 6 to 20, 2008 and August 15 to 29, 2009.
Qualifying Round
The teams played in 3 groups (A, B, C). The three group winners and the best runners qualify for the play-off matches for promotion to the Division A .

Promotion Games (Qualification Games)
In the climb games, the three group winners and the best runners played two climbers in the Division A from. For this purpose, two teams were drawn against each other to determine who had been promoted in two games.
